Our Philosophy

Reno Alcohol and Drug Services is of the belief Addiction is a primary, chronic, progressive illness with a multiple etiology that seriously affects all areas of one's life with tremendous cost to the family and community. Thus far, there is no known cure for addiction; however, with treatment, remission is possible. By means of treatment, those who suffer from the disease of addiction to enable them to develop and maintain a personal program of Recovery; allowing them to again become a productive part of society.

We also believe Addiction can be prevented if one's use, misuse, or abuse of chemicals is recognized and properly addressed prior to

one's progression to the point of loss of control. Proper education

can assist in distinguishing between social use, chemical

abuse, and addiction. By increased awareness of the effects

of chemicals on themselves and others, persons can

learn to make better choices and,

in many instances, avoid more serious problems.
